Canestro (Basket)

Magia della lana, Lang Yarns Millecolori. Il modello è mio, originale, ma non mi chiedete come l'ho fatto perchè non mi ricordo più. I punti: legaccio sul carrè, entrelac (ma in italiano si chiama canestro?) sul corpetto e semplice maglia rasata nelle maniche, anche se l'effetto è rigato perchè la lana è sfumata. Niente male vero?

Wonder of yarn: Lang Yarns Millecolori. The pattern is mine, but don't ask me what I did because I can't recall it. Stitches: garther st on the yoke, entrelac the rest, stockinette st in the sleeves, but the overall effect is striped because the yarn is multicolored. Not bad, isn't it?

Primavera (Spring time)

Finalmente è arrivato il caldo ed ho tirato fuori la roba più leggera per Damiano. Sorpresa: il Gasolino gli viene ancora, anzi forse gli sta anche meglio. Ed i pantaloni di gabardin con le tasche ed il granchietto che gli ho cucito quest'inverno gli stanno a meraviglia. Piuttosto, li avevo tagliati in taglia 4 anni - 104 cm di altezza, pensando che così li avrebbe messi per un pò, invece mi sembrano proprio giusti giusti. Peccato che lui ha solo due anni. Mah!

Hot spring weather has come, at last. I've picked up all the light garments for Damiano and surprise! Gasolino is still wearable, even if one year has passed. And the trousers I sewed this winter are perfect on him ( hem... I cut them size 4 yrs - 104 cm height, but they fit well... but the kid is only 2 yrs! He is a bit tall I think).

Per il resto, fra una poppata e l'altra mi sto cimentando con un PI Shawl.

When I'm not feeding the baby (the younger one...) I'm working on a PI shawl.

Troooppo bello! (Tooooo much beautiful!)

Ho ordinato qualche settimana fa due libri, "The knitter's handy book of patterns" e "The knitter's handy book of sweater patterns" di Ann Budd. Me li ha suggeriti l'impareggiabile Typesetter, e mai consiglio è stato più apprezzato. Devo dire che il secondo soprattutto è veramente strepitoso: ci sono le istruzioni per realizzare praticamente tutti i tipi di maglioni, in tutte le taglie e con qualsiasi grossezza di lana. Un sogno. Aspetto di recuperare sufficiente lucidità per scegliere un bel maglioncino da fare per Damiano (il grande). Nel frattempo, poco prima e poco dopo il parto, sono riuscita a terminare un cardigan per me ed un maglioncino sempre per Damiano. Mi piacerebbe avere il tempo di bloccarli in forma.... e farveli vedere.

PS. Grazie per tutti gli auguri per la nascita di Lorenzo. Ricambio per tutti i bimbi in arrivo!!!

Some weeks ago I ordered two books: "The knitter's handy book of patterns" and "The knitter's handy book of sweater patterns", from Ann Budd. I've been suggested by Typesetter, and it's been a really good advise. The second one is particularly interesting: it contains directions to knit almost all sweater patterns in all sizes and all gauges. A dream. I'm waiting to have some mental relax to work on a sweater for Damiano (the elder kid). In the meanwhile, before and after the birth of Lorenzo, I've knitted a cardi for me and finished a sweater for Damiano. I should have the time to block them... and show you.

Eccolo qui: Lorenzo, 3 chili, arrivato due settimane in anticipo il 28 marzo, tutto pappa cacca nanna, beato lui che non ha altri problemi. Damiano, il fratellino grande di 2 anni, per semplificare le cose si è fatto venire una tonsillite con febbre a 39 il pomeriggio della corsa in ospedale, così lo abbiamo lasciato dai nonni per com'era, pigiamino e tachipirine. Alla fine ce l'abbiamo fatta, ci ripetiamo che è solo questione di organizzazione... c'è sempre un pannolino da cambiare, un biberon di latte da scaldare, la pasta con l'ovetto per il grande, il bagnetto con l'olio Johnson del piccolo, ma il body lana fuori cotone dentro dov'è finito?

Here he is: Lorenzo, 3 kgs, born on march 28th, two weeks before. Damiano (the elder brother, 2 yrs) had high fever that same day just to make it simpler, so we left him to the grandparents in a rush. Now we're back home, and we continue repeating that it's only a matter of good planning: nappies, feeding bottles, pasta with egg for the big one, where has all the wool/cotton underwear gone??

Questa non l'ho fatta io (This is not a project of mine..)

Ricordate le manine alacri della mia mamma? Ecco il prodotto finito, rossa come la fortuna e con un bel nastrino scozzese intorno. E brava la nonna!

Do you remember my mother's fast hands knitting? Here is the finished project, red like luck and with a lovely scottish ribbon around. Grandma, you're great!!!

Ancora robina per bimbi (some babies' things more!)

L'ultimo, giuro che è l'ultimo, almeno per un pò. Ne ho fatti troppi di questi BSJ, ma sono una specie di droga. Questo l'ho fatto con una bellissima Mondial Ecco con sfumature in giallo e avanzi di Grignasco Merino fine e Merino Gold. Tutte utilizzate fino all'ultimo centimetro, quindi niente cordino intorno, però è carino lo stesso.

It's the last one BSJ, I promise (at least for a bit...). Yarns: Mondial Ecco (shaded one) and leftovers of Grignasco Merinofine and Merinogold in yellow, all used till the last inch, so no I-cord, but I like it as well.

E questo è un gilet da fighetto che ho fatto qualche tempo fa per Damiano, con un bel punto a quadrucci che fa un pò college. Grignasco Merinogold in bianco e blu elettrico.


And this is a little vest for my two years old kid Damiano, with a nice pattern in the middle college style. Yarn: Grignasco Merinogold.
